I have known Dr. Karen Betten for so long, I don’t remember actually meeting her. Our collaborations over time have grown and we are proud that most of our pork and beef is sourced from her regenerative farm, Bristol Haven Farm. Regenerative farm isn’t just a buzz word for farm owners Karen and Matt; it affects every decision in their operation. A physician and a farmer are quite the pair in stewarding 126 acres of lush pastures and raising nutrient dense meat. Karen’s journey to wellness led her to reevaluate her diet, transitioning from vegetarianism to embracing meat that is ethically raised on pasture. Through her experience, Karen discovered the profound impact of nourishing, sustainably sourced food.
These animals are treated with dignity and respect from start to finish. Choosing to source meat from their farm comes at a substantial cost to us at Of the Land. Who would we be if we just bought cheap meat from our distributors that wasn’t locally sourced? We would be like so many other caterers and restaurants that say “support local farms” on their marketing when in reality, it might be 1-5% of purchases. Paying premium prices to Karen and Matt ensures they not only stay in business, but continue to put in the incredible amount of time and labor to actually raise clean meat. We are truly “putting our money where our mouth is” in more ways than one by choosing to source products from Bristol Haven Farms. We are honored to serve the highest quality and most nutrient dense meat in the area. Check out more about Bristol Haven Farm here.
