When we called Cortney to let her know she had won our Elopement Day Package, she was at work — and absolutely giddy with excitement. We caught up with her to hear more about her love story, her dreams, and what winning this elopement means to her and her fiancé, CJ.

OTL: How do you feel right now?
Cortney: There are no words… what are the chances?!
OTL: How did you and CJ meet?
Cortney: We met through mutual friends at a party. After that night, CJ had a crush on me for eight years! He’s pretty shy, but we reconnected through social media and he finally asked me out.
OTL: What was holding you back from planning a wedding before winning this Elopement Day?
Cortney: Honestly, seeing my sister go through her wedding planning journey last year. It was so stressful for her. She told me afterward that if she and her husband could have eloped, they would have — but with big families, they felt obligated to have a large wedding.
OTL: Now that you’re eloping, what will you do with all the money you’re saving?
Cortney: We’re going to buy a house! It feels amazing to no longer have to double-save for a wedding and a home.
OTL: How does eloping fit into your life and relationship?
Cortney: I’m a surgical nurse at Bronson and CJ is an engineer at Stryker. We’re both working while putting ourselves through college, so our schedules are already packed. We got engaged at Silver Lake Sand Dunes, and honestly, we’re both really “go with the flow” people. Planning a full wedding felt overwhelming. I couldn’t believe all the incredible components that are included in the Elopement Package — it feels like a dream come true.
