Firefly Farms

Two people standing outdoors, smiling and holding brown bags labeled "Irish Field Farm—Buckwheat Flour.

I’ve met a lot of farmers throughout the years, and some of my favorite ones are Ben and Virginia from Firefly Farms. As a third generation organic farm, Firefly Farms is not only special but infused with grit and love for the process.  Because we both are farmers, we don’t spend a lot of time together having fun, but we have worked together through the years and I would trust Ben and Virginia with my life. The three things they produce on their 450 organic acres are grains, beans, and honey.

In our house, we use their honey in the cute weck jars. In our commercial kitchen, we use  their cornmeal for our cornbread, buckwheat for our almost famous buckwheat chocolate chip cookies, and their legumes go into our Black Bean Fritters, soups, and Green Box entrees.

You can order directly from them on their online store. We love the fact that they grow their own grains and mill the grains fresh. We love to make these Chocolate Rye Cookies with their rye flour too!
