Sustainability is one of our core values here on the farm and we are celebrating our new role as flower producers and floral designers here at Of The Land. Growing as many blooms as possible ourselves with organic growing practices decreases the miles traveled for blooms to literally zero, plus the impact on our soil, pollinators, air, and health of our staff by eliminating toxic pesticides and insecticides.
Organic Wedding Flowers Make All the Difference
The average couple spends upwards of $3,000 on floral packages for their wedding (often over $10,000 here on the farm), with imported flowers traveling thousands of miles. Not only does this hugely impact the carbon footprint of every wedding, it also means couples are receiving old flowers that will fade quickly. These bouquets are filled with toxic chemical residues from the pesticides, herbicides and other poisons used in conventional growing practices.
We are committed to organic growing practices here at Of the Land, and the flowers in your bouquet will be grown with the same dedication and care that we devote to our produce.
Blooming Ahead: Exciting Floral Expansions Are Coming
In 2026, we are dedicating two additional greenhouses to florals as well as a brand new devoted area for our wedding florals: the cutting garden. This fall, we’re planting thousands of bulbs to be used for spring and early summer bouquets. Additionally, you can expect the same expansive flower fields we did this year— depending on the month, we will have cosmos, zinnias, poppies, amaranth, or sunflowers by the millions for strolling and of course…photo ops!
The Team Bringing Our Floral Vision to Life
Many staff members will be helping with this new endeavor. Trent is leading the planning for the entire farm: both greenhouses and field plantings, as well as ordering. Bridgett is creating the internal systems for us to serve our customers with as much ease and clear communication as possible– as well as finding extremely beautiful flowers we can’t live without. Krista is assisting in all of the planting and planning of the greenhouses, as well as prepping the ground for fall planting. Audrey, the lead for the floral design and customer service, has been experimenting with our new installation pieces and making stunning bouquets for us to admire.
